Nikki & Brad’s Five Oaks Wedding
Nikki and Brad live out of town and won’t get to see their wedding photos until this weekend, so I thought it was high time I gave them a sneak peek! They’ve been oh so patient having to wait till they could make it in town, but I’m sure they’re super anxious to see them.
In February, I heard through a local photography forum that a bride’s photographer had backed out of shooting their wedding (I’d like to say this is uncommon – it is not) and were needing a new photographer with less than a month out from their wedding. I felt really badly for this unknown bride, but didn’t know any further details. The next day, I got a call from my friend Rene with Mom and Me Events, and turns it out it was her client that needed a photographer. I was available so I jumped at the chance to get the honor of photographing this couple’s wedding. Well, as you’ve guessed by now, it was Nikki and Brad. I immediately clicked with Nikki when I met her and knew the wedding day would be fabulous. She is all about the glitz and sequins and those are just things I can totally get behind! The blingier the better! (ya like that? “Blingier”™) So even though we only had a short month to get to know each other before the big day, I knew we were a good match.
Kate Spade wedges with sparkle? Yes please.
Love this getting ready shot that April took.
Oh this flowergirl. This child was darling and oh so photogenic!
It seems like when I’m photographing at Five Oaks, there’s a new baby sheep. This is actually a shot of April’s and it just kills me that Hector the sheep its such an important part of the photo.
If you know me, you know that the color pink is my fave. Pink + sequins = a happy Andrea
I told you so.
Nikki had her 2 brothers walk her down the aisle. It was such a sweet moment.
Fun fact: The guy that married Nikki and Brad is Don Bell. Who happens to be one of my favorite people around and definitely my favorite father of the bride, ever. (I’ve photographed all 3 of his daughters’ weddings.) I found out shortly after meeting Nikki, that Brad’s family goes way back with the Bell family.
The ringbearer couldn’t quite make it to the end of the reception. Poor little guy, its hard work bearing rings.
After 16 years of photographing weddings, its rare for me to have a “first” anymore. But a grand exit via a helicopter was a new one for me. I quickly learned just how powerful those helicopter blades are when you’re trying to hold a camera steady. (Let’s just say that watching April and me holding a camera and a giant light while trying not to get knocked off our feet would have made for a hilarious video – luckily everyone had their eyes on the helicopter itself)
