…Deep in the heart of TEXAS!! Ya know how when you go over to someone’s house and they bore you for hours with their vacation pictures? Now you get to be bored from the comfort of your own home!!

Warning – This post contains: *Huge pictures. I’m always annoyed when a picture on a blog is too big for my screen. But… I’m too lazy to change it. *A lot of idiocy. My husband and I are idiots. Its okay. We own it. But if you thought I was normal, be prepared to be dissapointed. *Texas Pride. I can’t help it. Don’t hate.

So if you didn’t know, Paddycakes and I took a few days off and headed down to San Antonio. It had been a really really really really long time since we had been able to get away, and so it was a well needed little vacay. Although I took my “big camera” I didn’t once break it out. I admire you photographers that take awesome vacation pictures. I’ve tried to do it before, but it only really annoys me. The truth is, I really don’t enjoy taking scenery type pics. And honestly, I’m not very good at it. Whenever I do it, all I can think about is how badly I’d like a bride or a senior to be standing in my frame. People are my thing. Not scenery. I was thrilled to have my point and shoot camera along. I really enjoyed taking normal vacation pictures!! I didn’t stress if it wasn’t a perfect picture. (But my little camera does take awesome pictures)

The first day was spent travelling. Driving through Texas Hill Country takes a long time. But it was a really fanastic drive. If only the bluebonnets had been blooming… but it was still pretty either way. We decided to stay our first night in Fredricksburg. Fredricksburg was awesome! We should have stayed 2 nights. We stayed in a fantastic little bed and breakfast. So much fun!! We were right by a bunch of wineries. So we had to his those up! Too much fun!!

IMG_0122IMG_0129IMG_0142IMG_0190IMG_0194Random boar in an antique shop. If only we could have taken him home. I’m sure the cats would have loved him. IMG_0198IMG_0205IMG_0229I think they only make trees like this in Texas. Oh Texas. You’re such a beautiful place.IMG_0240IMG_0246This winery was also a lavendar farm. I loved the historic buildings. They also hold weddings here. I’ll take volunteers for a bride to get married here! IMG_0267Isn’t my husband adorable??? My parents had taken a trip to Fredricksburg and said we just had to go to Luckenbach (Waylon, Willie and the Boys. I can’t believe how many people have never heard that song! What is wrong with my generation???) We were skeptical but we decided to go since it was about 5 miles away. We loved it!!! They have a post office/gift store/bar where everyone gathers. Anyone can come and jam with other musicians. They also have a dance hall and there was a country band warming up for the night. If you’re in that part of the country, you have to drop by!! Its really cool!

Also while we were there I spotted a wee little Leprechaun dancing upon the horns of a longhorn….IMG_0301I seriously die laughing everytime I look at this picture.

The next day in San Antonio we hit the Riverwalk and the Alamo. The Riverwalk itself wasn’t terribly interesting if you ask me. It was just a bunch of restaurants that weren’t very good. We’re not really party people though. If we were, perhaps we’d be more interested in the nightlife there. But we went on the boat tour and that was a lot of fun. IMG_0359Glorious Alamo.IMG_0363The third day we did breakfast on the Riverwalk (they had dyed the river green for St. Patrick’s Day) We also hit up an arts district called La Villita, an historical neighborhood (very cool) and went to all the Missions. The Missions were another highlight of the trip. They were all built around 1700 and not only are they still standing, but most are still being used. I think they all were being used as churches. One even was a convent. Oklahoma is such a new state that it seems wierd to be around buildings that old.IMG_0372IMG_0415

And brides… seriously… lets go here and take pictures!! I think a photographer friend, Summer Askins, has shot a bride here. It seemed familiar!

So there ya have it. It was a great little vacation. All in all… I mostly posted pics of Paddy looking goofy. I’m really goofier. I just come up with the ideas and convince him to go do them. And then I post them on the internet for everyone to see. I’m both smart and hillarious!! If you’re still reading this, thanks. I appreciate you stoppin’ by!
